What is the minimum order?
One bag per reference: 10 kg for Japanese ceremonial matcha, 20 kg for grade AA and for culinary. There is no other minimum, neither in value nor in number of references.
Do I have to be a business to order?
No. The price shown is a wholesale price and it is open to everyone, businesses and private individuals alike. European Union businesses holding a valid intra-community VAT number can also benefit from the VAT exemption.
Does the price drop with volume?
No, and that is deliberate. There is one price per kilo per reference, public and the same for everyone, whatever the volume. Nothing to negotiate, no account to open, no threshold to reach.
Can I get a sample?
We do not offer free samples. The bag is designed precisely to allow a formulation test at a controlled cost before committing to volume.
How do I order a large volume?
Bags are ordered directly online, with no quantity limit. For a recurring supply contract, write to us at contact@wholesale-matcha.eu with the annual volume and the frequency you have in mind.

What is the difference between ceremonial, grade AA and culinary?
Japanese ceremonial is the finest reference: leaves shade grown in Japan, 70 mesh grind, meant to be drunk in the cup with hot water. Grade AA comes from China, it is made from the youngest shade grown leaves and stone ground, which gives a powder of remarkable fineness, a naturally sweet taste and umami notes, at a price well below ceremonial. Culinary is designed for processing: its fuller taste holds in the mouth once mixed with milk, sugar or a batter, and it is the richest of the three in EGCG.
Japan or China, does it make a difference?
Origin is a strong commercial argument with consumers, who associate matcha with Japan. Technically, the criterion that counts is how the plant is grown, in particular shading before harvest, which concentrates chlorophyll and amino acids and softens bitterness. All our references come from shade grown crops, with the exception of the culinary grade.
Are all the products organic?
Yes, all three references are certified under Regulation (EU) 2018/848 and British organic standards by the Soil Association, under code GB-ORG-05. The certificate is provided on request.
Are the products Halal and Kosher certified?
All three references are Kosher and vegan certified. They are compatible with a halal diet, without being halal certified. If your market requires it, that is a point to build into your specification upstream.
Does matcha contain caffeine?
Yes, and in significant quantity: 2,371 mg per 100 g for ceremonial and 1,768 mg per 100 g for culinary, which is around 47 mg and 35 mg per 2 g serving. Matcha is not recommended for children, for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or for people sensitive to caffeine. This statement must appear on your finished product.
What is the shelf life?
24 months from the date of production, in the original packaging, closed, stored dry and away from light. Matcha oxidises quickly once opened: the colour turns and the aromatic profile degrades. For prolonged storage, we recommend keeping it below 10 °C.
Documentation and compliance
Do you supply a certificate of analysis?
Yes, for the exact batch delivered to you. The full technical data sheet, the organic certificate and the allergen declaration are supplied on the same terms. You can ask for all of it before ordering at contact@wholesale-matcha.eu.
Can I use this matcha in a food supplement that I sell?
Yes. It is however for you to ensure the regulatory compliance of your finished product, in particular its labelling, its notification to the competent authorities and the claims you use.
Is there a regulatory limit on EGCG?
Yes. The daily portion of a food or a supplement must stay below 800 mg of epigallocatechin-3-gallate. Matcha naturally contains a great deal of it, up to 4,850 mg per 100 g for our culinary grade, which calls for a precise calculation of your daily dose. Are the products tested for heavy metals and pesticides?
Yes. Levels of heavy metals, mycotoxins, nitrates and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons comply with Regulation (EC) 2023/915. The products are neither irradiated nor treated with ethylene oxide, and contain no residual solvent.
Delivery and payment
What are the lead times?
3 to 5 working days to mainland France, 5 to 8 working days within the European Union. Orders confirmed before 12pm on a working day are prepared the same day.
Is delivery free?
Yes, from 500 euros excluding tax of goods, to mainland France and within the European Union. The full terms are on the shipping and returns page.
How does the VAT exemption work?
If you are a business established in a European Union member state other than France, enter your intra-community VAT number when ordering. Once its validity has been checked, the delivery is invoiced free of tax under the rules on intra-community supplies.
Can I pay by bank transfer?
Payment by bank transfer can be set up for volume orders. Write to us at contact@wholesale-matcha.eu before placing your order.
What do I do if the goods arrive damaged?
Write precise reservations on the delivery note in the presence of the driver, confirm them to the carrier by registered letter within three working days, and tell us at the same time with photographs. A general note along the lines of subject to unpacking has no legal value.
