We sell organic matcha green tea in bulk to professional buyers in the European Union, and we publish the price per kilogram before you speak to anyone. There is no form to complete, no account to open and no quote to wait for: you read the rate, compare the three references and order. The range holds exactly three references, Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha Japan at 134.20 EUR per kg, Organic Grade AA Stone Ground Matcha at 81.40 EUR per kg and Organic Culinary Grade Matcha at 32.26 EUR per kg. This page shows what each reference costs, what sits inside a price per kg, why the gap between the finest and the cheapest grade is so wide, and what a bulk matcha order really costs a business in Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland or elsewhere in the EU once shipping, VAT and administration are counted.

The three references and the price per kg
The catalogue is deliberately short. One reference covers food production, drinks and bakery, one covers cafés, bars and smoothie counters, and one covers tea service, retail tins and gifting. Each reference has a single pack size and a single price per kg, so the price per bag is simply the kilogram rate multiplied by the weight of the bag.
| Reference | Pack size | Price per kg | Price per bag |
|---|---|---|---|
| Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha Japan | 10 kg bag | 134.20 EUR | 1342.00 EUR |
| Organic Grade AA Stone Ground Matcha | 20 kg bag | 81.40 EUR | 1628.00 EUR |
| Organic Culinary Grade Matcha | 20 kg bag | 32.26 EUR | 645.20 EUR |
Prices exclude tax and are the same for every buyer, on a first order and on a repeat order. Each reference also has its own product page with its full technical sheet, and the three sit together in our organic matcha range. The minimum order is one bag per reference, so a first order can be a single 20 kg bag.
What makes up the price of matcha per kg
A kilogram of matcha is not one product with one cost. The kilogram rate is the sum of what happens in the field, in the mill, in the laboratory and in the warehouse. Five lines explain most of the distance between one reference and another.
The leaf and the picking standard
The largest line in the rate is the leaf itself. A culinary reference uses leaves picked later in the season, when the bush has grown and picking is faster per kilogram. A ceremonial reference uses the youngest growth from shaded plants, taken in a short window, and the volume of powder obtained per hectare falls sharply as the picking standard rises. The same grower, in the same field, with the same certification, can produce a kilogram at 32.26 EUR or at 134.20 EUR. What changes is which leaves enter the mill.
Shading before harvest
The ceremonial reference comes from plants shaded for a period before picking, which slows growth and concentrates colour and flavour. Shading costs money twice: the netting and its installation, and the lower volume of leaf the plant produces. Culinary grade is grown with less shading or none, which keeps the volume high and the kilogram rate low.
Stone grinding and throughput
Matcha is ground, not blended. Slow milling protects colour and aroma, and it also caps throughput: the finer the target particle size, the more machine time one kilogram consumes. The mesh and particle size range for each reference is stated in its technical sheet, and the finest references carry the highest milling cost per kilogram.
Organic certification and inspection
All three references are certified organic under Regulation (EU) 2018/848 and covered by Soil Association GB-ORG-05 certification. Organic growing carries costs that conventional farming does not: no synthetic nitrogen, lower yields per hectare and separate handling at every step to avoid contamination. Certification is also a recurring cost, with inspection and certificate maintenance. It sits in every kilogram and does not fall as order volumes rise.
Testing, documentation and European stock
Every batch is tested and documented under Regulation (CE) 2023/915, which covers heavy metals, mycotoxins, nitrates and PAH. Testing is charged per batch rather than per kilogram, so it weighs more heavily on small batches. Bulk matcha is then packed in sealed food grade packaging, kept away from light, heat and strong odours, and held in European stock, which adds warehousing to each kilogram and removes a long import lead time. Shelf life is 24 months from the production date.
What drives the price per kg
The table below summarises the cost lines and how each one pulls the kilogram rate.
| Cost line | How it moves the price per kg |
|---|---|
| Picking standard and leaf position | Younger shaded growth and a short harvest window spread the same field costs over far fewer kilograms |
| Shading before harvest | Netting, installation and lower leaf volume, concentrated on the ceremonial reference |
| Milling speed and target particle size | Slower grinding protects colour and aroma but limits output per machine hour |
| Organic certification and inspection | Regulation (EU) 2018/848 and Soil Association GB-ORG-05 add inspection, lower yields and separate handling |
| Batch testing and documentation | Regulation (CE) 2023/915 testing is charged per batch and applies to every reference |
| Packaging, European stock and shelf life | Sealed packaging, warehousing and rotation over a 24 month shelf life |
| Direct sales model | No importer, distributor or commission agent between the mill and your kitchen |
Why the gap between grades runs from 32.26 to 134.20 EUR
At 32.26 EUR per kg the culinary reference is agricultural volume with a milling cost attached. At 134.20 EUR per kg the ceremonial reference behaves like a luxury raw material: fewer kilograms per hectare, picked in days rather than weeks, milled slowly to a fine powder, tested batch by batch and certified organic on top of that. The multiplier between the two is a little over four, and most of it is leaf quantity rather than marketing.
Pack size works in the other direction and softens the picture. The ceremonial reference ships in a 10 kg bag, the other two in 20 kg bags, so handling and packaging are spread over fewer kilograms on the finest grade. Per bag the three references read 1342.00 EUR, 1628.00 EUR and 645.20 EUR; per kilogram the same three read 134.20 EUR, 81.40 EUR and 32.26 EUR. A buyer who compares the cash outlay sees a different ranking from a buyer who compares the cost of a finished serving, and the Grade AA reference is the heaviest single purchase of the three.
Why there is no volume discount grid
Most wholesalers publish a grid: one rate for a bag, another for five, a third for a pallet. We publish one price per kg, for three reasons.
First, the rate follows the grade, not the invoice size. If the mill charges us per kilogram of ceremonial powder, the twentieth kilogram cannot cost less than the first without a margin being hidden somewhere, usually in the smallest orders or in the reference nobody compares.
Second, a grid turns a published price into a negotiation. To reach the real number you need a quote, an account, a credit file and a sales contact, and the buyer who does not ask pays more than the buyer who does. A single public rate removes that asymmetry: the price a first order pays is the price a repeat order pays.
Third, nothing needs to be negotiated. Your cost per kilogram falls when you match the reference to the job, culinary for high-volume production, Grade AA for cafés and drinks, ceremonial for tea service and retail. That choice can be made in minutes from published figures. If your programme is large enough to change the industrial picture, or if you want to sell under your own name, the conversation is about a specific project, it starts from the same public rate, and private label matcha covers brand, pack and artwork.
What a bulk matcha order really costs
The published price per kg is not the whole cost line. Shipping, VAT and administration move the landed cost, and all three are deliberately simple here.
Free shipping from 500 EUR ex VAT
Shipping is free on orders from 500 EUR excluding VAT to any address in mainland France and the European Union. Below that amount the shipping cost is shown at checkout before payment. For a professional buyer, 500 EUR ex VAT is a modest order: it takes a variable cost out of your margin calculation without asking for a commitment. Current conditions are set out on the shipping and returns page.
Intra-EU VAT exemption
Deliveries to businesses in another EU member state are exempt from French VAT when a valid intra-community VAT number is supplied. The number is recorded on the invoice with the mention required for a zero-rated intra-community supply, and VAT is then accounted for under the reverse charge in your own country. A German, Dutch or Irish buyer therefore sees the kilogram rate as the pre-tax cost, with no French VAT added and nothing to reclaim. Buyers established in France pay French VAT at the applicable rate.
No file fees and no account to open
There is no file fee, no membership fee, no annual minimum and no account to create. You do not send a registration document to see a price, and you do not log in to reorder. Checkout is a normal checkout: choose the reference, enter the delivery address and, if you have one, your VAT number, then confirm.
Payment: cash on order, bank transfer on volume orders
Payment is made when the order is placed. On volume orders, payment by bank transfer is possible; ask for it at checkout and the order is released once the transfer is received. Either way there is no credit application to complete and no account to be approved, which is why a first order can leave the warehouse on the day it is placed.
Specifications and documentation
Buyers in food service, retail and food manufacturing need the numbers behind the powder, and those numbers travel with the batch. Each reference is documented with its origin, mesh or particle size, moisture, ash, protein, fibre, caffeine, EGCG and iron content. The technical sheet and the batch documents are supplied on request, before or after the order, with no account and no charge.
- Organic certification under Regulation (EU) 2018/848.
- Soil Association GB-ORG-05 certification.
- Kosher and vegan. Halal-compatible, but not halal certified.
- No irradiation and no ethylene oxide treatment at any stage.
- GMO free, with no residual solvents.
- Contaminants controlled under Regulation (CE) 2023/915: heavy metals, mycotoxins, nitrates and PAH.
- Shelf life of 24 months from the production date.
- The 800 mg EGCG daily portion limit applies to the finished product you place on the market, so the EGCG figure for each reference is supplied for product development and labelling.
Ordering, stock and lead times
All three references are held in European stock, and orders confirmed before 12h on a working day are dispatched the same day. Delivery times depend on the destination:
- Mainland France: 3 to 5 working days.
- European Union: 5 to 8 working days.
- Switzerland and the United Kingdom: 6 to 10 working days.
Because the goods are already inside the European Union, a delivery to Germany, the Netherlands or Ireland is an intra-EU movement, with no import procedure, no customs broker and no duty to pre-fund. To order, open the matcha B2B page, check the reference, the minimum order and the rate, then confirm before 12h if you want same-day dispatch. If you are comparing suppliers for the first time, our guide to choosing your matcha supplier lists the questions worth asking before you commit to a pallet or a contract.
Frequently asked questions
These are the questions buyers send us most often. A fuller list sits on our frequently asked questions page.
How much does organic matcha cost per kg in bulk?
134.20 EUR per kg for Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha Japan, 81.40 EUR per kg for Organic Grade AA Stone Ground Matcha and 32.26 EUR per kg for Organic Culinary Grade Matcha. The prices are public, exclude tax and are identical for every buyer.
